Benalmádena lies between Torremolinos and Fuengirola, a short way west of Málaga. It is on the C-1 train line, which makes it one of the easiest places on the coast for a commute into the city.

The three parts

  • Benalmádena Pueblo. The old white village on the hillside, quiet and with views of the sea.
  • Arroyo de la Miel. The everyday centre in the middle, with the train station, shops, schools and most of the people who live here all year.
  • Benalmádena Costa. The seafront, with beaches, hotels and the marina, Puerto Marina.

A cable car runs from Arroyo de la Miel up Mount Calamorro, and a large park, Parque de la Paloma, sits between the town and the sea.

For work

We know of no gaming offices in Benalmádena. The draw is the train to Málaga, where several gaming companies have technology teams; see the company directory.

Getting around

  • The C-1 train links Arroyo de la Miel with Torremolinos, the airport and Málaga in one direction and Fuengirola in the other.
  • Near the station a car is optional. In the Pueblo and the hillside estates you will want one.

Who it suits

People who work in Málaga and want the train close to home: Arroyo de la Miel has the station, the shops and the schools. It also suits those who would rather have a quiet white village with sea views, or a flat near the marina, and do not mind a hill.

Keep in mind

Much of Benalmádena is built on a slope. Check the walk to the station before you choose a home, not only the distance on the map.
