Mijas is a large municipality with three very different parts. Mijas Pueblo is the white village up on the mountainside. Las Lagunas joins on to Fuengirola and is the most built-up part; it is described on the Fuengirola page. Mijas Costa runs along the sea; see La Cala de Mijas.

What it is like

Mijas Pueblo sits on the slope of the Sierra de Mijas, high above Fuengirola, with views over the coast and out to sea. It is a classic Andalusian white village: narrow, steep streets, small squares, flower pots and a handful of viewpoints. During the day it fills with visitors on excursions. In the evening it belongs to the people who live there again.

Walking trails into the sierra start at the edge of the village.

Getting around

  • No train. A bus runs down to Fuengirola, where the C-1 train to the airport and Málaga starts.
  • In practice you need a car. The road down to the coast is good but winding.
  • The village is hilly, and parking close to an old house can be difficult.

Who it suits

People who work from home and want village life, views and slightly cooler summer nights, with the coast a short drive below.

Keep in mind

There are no gaming offices here that we know of, and every trip to an office, the beach or one of our events starts with the drive down the mountain. If that sounds fine, see our next events.
