Rincón de la Victoria is the first town east of Málaga city, where the eastern coast, the Axarquía, begins. The municipality runs along the sea and includes La Cala del Moral, Rincón itself, Torre de Benagalbón and Benajarafe.
What it is like
This is mainly a Spanish residential town. Many of the people who live here work in Málaga, and you hear far less English than on the western coast. A seafront promenade links the different parts of the town, and between La Cala del Moral and Rincón a walkway passes through old railway tunnels cut into the cliff. The town is also known for a sea cave you can visit, the Cueva del Tesoro.
For work
We know of no gaming offices here. The reason to choose Rincón is Málaga next door, where several gaming companies have technology teams; see the company directory.
Getting around
- No train. The old railway along this coast closed long ago.
- Buses run into Málaga, and the A-7 motorway passes behind the town.
- The airport is on the far side of Málaga, so allow for city traffic.
Who it suits
People with an office in Málaga who want a beach town with a Spanish feel, and families who want to live in Spanish and put children in local schools.
Keep in mind
Marbella and the western coast are a long drive from here. If most of your work or social life is there, look further west.
