Manilva is the westernmost municipality on the coast of Málaga province. After it comes Cádiz province. It has three parts that feel quite different from each other.
Manilva village
The original white village sits on a hill a little inland, surrounded by vineyards. It is the quietest and most Spanish of the three, and you need a car to reach the sea.
Sabinillas
San Luis de Sabinillas, usually just called Sabinillas, is the beach town: a seafront promenade, everyday shops, bars and restaurants, and people living there all year. It is the practical choice if you want to do daily life on foot.
La Duquesa
Puerto de la Duquesa is a small marina ringed with restaurants and bars, with apartments around it and a golf course on the slope behind. It has a large international community and is livelier in summer than in winter. A walk along the shore to the west is the Castillo de la Duquesa, an old coastal fort, with a small former fishing hamlet and fish restaurants beside it. A promenade links La Duquesa with Sabinillas.
For work
There are no gaming offices here that we know of. People in the industry choose Manilva because it lies between Estepona and Gibraltar, or because they work from home. If Gibraltar is your office, read the Gibraltar page first.
Getting around
- No train. You need a car.
- The A-7 coast road passes through, and the AP-7 toll motorway runs just inland.
- Málaga airport is a long drive. Gibraltar airport is closer.
Who it suits
Remote workers, people with a job in Gibraltar, and anyone who wants a quieter stretch of coast with more space for their money than in Marbella.
Keep in mind
Marbella is a fair drive and Málaga is further still. Estepona, the nearest large town, is a short drive east.
